Mr. S. Trakru, FRCS is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in London and has over fifteen years of experience in Orthopaedic Surgery. He took up his current Consultant post at the North Middlesex Hospital NHS Trust (An Associated University Hospital) in 1995. His specialist practice is devoted almost wholly to artificial hip and knee joint replacement surgery. The practice includes a large number of revision or 'redo' operations referred to him by other Consultant collaeagues. These revision cases require highly technical and demanding surgery, necessary where a previous hip replacement has failed. He also sees patients referred with difficult problems such as infection after joint replacement surgery where complex management is required.
Mr. Trakru is actively involved in research in the field of hip replacement surgery. He has a number of publications in international scientific journals and has also presented his research findings at medical conferences here in the UK and also in the United States. Mr. Trakru completed his postgraduate training in Orthopaedic Surgery in the Southeast of England. He was then selected for a Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh, USA where he devoted a year and a half to the exclusive practice of and research into hip and knee replacement surgery. The Joint Replacement Centre at Pittsburgh is one of the world's foremost referral hospitals for the management of difficult first time and revision hip and knee replacements, infected replacements and those requiring salvage after multiple failed operations.
